As the crowd dispersed following the return of the airship and the subsequent discussion about the New Dawn's future, Richard sought out Nicholas. He had mentioned something about teaming up for research purposes during the meeting, and Richard saw no point in delaying. He approached the man, with Charles following him.
"I believe you mentioned the possibility of a collaboration. Would now be an appropriate time?"

"Ah yes, yes, that is the question isn't it; it's never really appropriate in the estate." Nicholas turned a bit; having actually managed to get one of the bodies away from the ship via the 'I want to do some tests' excuse. Which was as good as any; as he did know that his... Methods? Yes, methods; let him go with that; would be frowned upon at the least. But, right now he was actually working in the hovel he called a 'practice' which was, by the way; the backside of one of the already claimed buildings in a shed...
"I know what you are, a Necromantic Practitioner no? As it stands; what I am wishing to develope is something more... Useful in situations against the undead. As no doubt the failed experiment that stabbed you had shown rather plainly... He is a necromancer- thus, he is a threat to us. As much as I belly ache to all those around me?" He held up a finger, "I really am not bothered as much by the undead... Although they do give me mild conniptions to be around." He sniffed a tad derisively at this...
"But, there comes a price for your help- if you should accept this... I might as well see to it that I can try my hand at rendering your undead at least partially immune to the effects of what I'm creating..." He seemed to strain a bit as he firmly clamped the legs of the 'sack of flesh' to the gurney, "Or fully if I can... After all, my allies being caught in cross fire is likely to happen; I don't need to destroy their agents while defeating my enemy's own."

"You are correct in your perceptions, although that hardly seems a secret anymore, much to my displeasure. My talents do, indeed, center around my ability to create and control undead."
Richard strode alongside Nicholas with his arms clasp tightly behind his back. He looked ahead while he talked with the man.
"I am not a popular man, as I am sure you have gathered. How am I to know that it is even possible to make my foces immune to any weapon I assist in the creation of? I'm sure the Paladins would be more than happy to use anything you create against me."

"To be fair you are HARDLY subtle, I've met elephants that were more quiet about what they wish to do. If I heard right, didn't you 'go behind a rock' and try to raise the dead? One must always go behind trees; those are far more subtle..." He of course was actually moving around and starting to use a little bit of salt in places where it was obvious it would move the most at. Namely the jaw.
"Ah, yes, the Zealots; well- their intent is to do what they believe is right. One cannot fault such zeal. Have you looked, perhaps; into gardening?" This was a mildly subtle jab at what had happened earlier in the month.
"But, from what I understand; these bodies were drained fully of their 'crystal auras'- which is a more general term for 'their souls have been destroyed'. I understand that you cannot raise them without that key component no? Also, I think you can have your limit of raises waived while we're experimenting... Probably. After all, it is for the greater good that we're doing this." An amusing precept that he'd used many times- but, then again Richard wasn't the one creating horrifying animal abominations simply because he wanted to make his mark on the world. So...

"I can fault them in so far as their zeal compromises their cause, as my death does nothing more than deprive them of aid I provide them." Richard shook his head as if to clear a thought and continued.
"I can raise you test subjects. Do you have any particular preference of zombie or skeleton? Would either one be of preference to you?"
Richard looked about the room. Making sure they were alone while also looking approvingly on the work space.

"I am rarely disturbed; apparently the smell is what keeps most out- they don't like formaldehyde apparently." He of course just shook his head, "I have no preference; other than it being strong enough to endure multiple tests, but weak enough to not be able to pull free of the restraints." He of course was going about and getting on some rather interestingly appropriate gear. Including an apron that was quite bloodstained.
He was a doctor after all, "Have Charles close the door; bar and lock it- he will be inside so as to insure the maximum effective use of the situation... Should I require assistance of course- if I accidentally sever your control over the subject..."

Richard nodded at Charles and he silently obeyed, barring the door and drawing his hammer. Richard studied the body before him and gathered fell energies in preparation for the spell.
"I'll animate him into a zombie. Upon your word, I will raise it."

Nicholas' use of restraints might not be readily apparent as to much of a reason; but- as a scientist the man has had more than a few 'close calls' so to speak. Right now, however; he was almost done; the final restraint; keeping the mouth firmly open was placed. And he simply smirked at Richard; his eyes glittering with that barely fettered madness that Alchemists all had in that unsubtle gaze. He was excited; he felt his throat dry and his teeth clenched a little, "Oh yes... Yes... Do so Richard."
"From this corpse make a creature that I might use to perfect a formulae that will... Cement my usefulness." He did however give the man a bit of an odd look, "Also, how are the wounds holding up? I forgot to remove your stitches when you decided to heal yourself."

Richard looked at the man, bemused at the randomness of the question.
"I removed the stitches myself. It was simple enough. I healed myself afterwards."
Richard placed his hand on the brow of the corpse before him. A bright flash of green light filled the room for a moment.
"There. Is it done." Richard said with finality.

(Do we need to get someone to come and rule on whether or not adding Crystal Aura would do anything?)

"Interesting." His hand was now reaching for... a Book? His fingers snapped a small piece of charcoal into the correct shape as he basically began to circle around what was... Or rather, what was not happening. Richard, if he took the time to notice- could probably see that the man was keeping his eyes locked on to where his hand was. No other mention toward the lack of animation in the subject; nothing. He didn't seem to be phased by Richard's lack of results. In fact, he was now close and moving Richard's hand out of the way.
"Hm, this actually is rather interesting Richard; the subject normally would have an artificial soul created by the negative energy you used correct? I can tell you for a fact; right now... Nothing happened." He seemed to be grinning toothily, "You would say you have... Failed? No?" His tone was almost playful.
"But the results are interesting- you see... Did you feel that tug on your magical aura when you tried?" He seemed to be very, very pleased, "I think there is something afoot that is far more sinister than simply 'a lack of a soul'... Sanctification works with that; buuuut..." He seemed to be grinning all the more toothily, "What if you desecrated the body? And I have plenty of salt if you must use an chemical component to insure maximum results."
