The formula was missing an ingredient. The portable alchemist lab sat in the far corner of the mess hall, bubbling away while he stood in front of it and looked over the chemical components to find the right one. Father Aero selected a vial from within the chaos of tubes and boiling liquid to inspect it for himself. Finger tapping the bottom of the glass and swirling it about with a focused attention. After a brief second of study, the man poured the vial into the steamed over flask that sat on a low heat burner in front of him. qleYKvGy1-20 + 6 = 12
Aero frowned as the liquid combined and there was no reaction. Instead, the color of the chemical within the flask turned to a dark gray color and produced a few flecks from the sizzle the liquid hissed out when the two mixtures had combined into one. The man reached up and scratched the top of his head as he looked at the vial he still held in his free hand. "Must've overcooked it," he murmured to himself.1-20

Markas came into the mess hall as usual but he noticed something moving around in a corner. He looked over and noticed a member he has only seen once and that was on a mission. Markas then proceeds to walk over to the man and extend his hand. "Hello Father Aero was it? I felt that we didn't have time to make proper introductions last time we met the names Markas."

"Hm?" Aero turned when he heard his name, and smiled as friendly as he could manage after the circumstances of his recent failure. He turned back to the failed mixture and disposed of it as safely as he could before he started the entire process over again from scratch. This time he took his time, unhurried by variables that could distract him from his work. Speaking with this Markas not included in those calculations. His free hand reached out finally and grasped the others. A firm shake later and the hand was withdrawn in order to drop a few capsules into the new mixture.
"Yes, Father Aero - you may call me Aero if you'd like," he said. He looked over his shoulder at the young man for a moment with the smile still stretched across his lips. "I owe you one for putting that abomination of flesh out for me before I ended Its life. I hadn't mean to cause an issue within the group but the faithful are always true to their Gods degree," he went on. "Are you a religious man, Markas? I happened to find my faith while growing up in the sands of Hyza."

Markas gave a slight chuckle at the comment Aero made about who he could assume was Richard. He then took a step to the side of Aero and looked over at the alchemist lab he was messing with. Markas even with the tomes he's read alchemy never made much sense.
"I've never put much thought into faith. Though the monastery I grew up in did teach it I never really focus much on those studies, but I am happy to hear that you found something good out of Hyza. Now when it comes to Richard, yes his methods are a little unorthodox and when you have a group such as this there will be infighting. What I did was just to get everyone to quiet down it was easier to get him from behind than to go after you or Arlen. But either way you're welcome."

He listened with his judgement reserved. Not all carried faith, and not all would see his Lady as the one to follow if they had. There were two other deities - the third being nothing more than a banished traitor whose followers were nothing more than rapists and grave robbers. Aero snorted, however, at the way the man described Richard. "So, if he raised a loved one of yours to do his will thus trapping your loved ones soul to forever wander and not move on," he paused in his work to look at the man, "you are telling me you wouldn't strike him down? Forgive me, but I take issue with believing that." He turned back to his work and while he worked, he spoke.
"Unorthodox is not a word to describe the rising of the dead, sir. It's abomination. Unnatural. Rising to bring one back from the dead is fine but to corrupt the process and force the body to your will is an evil act no matter how you word it," he said.
"I have my orders. I can tolerate him, but the moment that I feel that he threatens the mission or in anyway uses his negative power to take control of something outside of the discussed allowed, I am ordered to be his assassin." He mixed one more ingredient in with the flask and smiled as the combination produced the desired outcome for the first step of the process. "It's an order given to all the holy men and women that is part of the New Dawn - now, let's change the subject to something more pleasant. How are you loving the rebellion thus far?"

Markas nodded in agreement at almost all the statements Aero had made but the statement about the loved one visibly rubbed Markas the wrong way, bringing back memories from his youth and memories of his mentor. Markas then walks to the wall and leans against it with his arms crossed and continues the conversation. "I did not mean to cause offense by the statements and by no way do I agree with his methods, and I agree as soon as he puts an ally in danger you will not be the only one going after him. Now with the rebellion I'll be honest when I first came here I gave no damn about the rebellion or the cause. I came here in search of something that I was told I would find here, but with recent events I've decided that this cause is good and they will need all the help they can get. What do you think about the rebellion?"

Aero noted the tension coiled in Markas at the mention of a loved one. His gaze flickered away while he searched for forgiveness in the compound mixtures. "There was no offense taken," he said. "You and I share the same ideal. Although, I do see the importance of this rebellion, I am only here to assist as I am a man of faith. Even the enemy needs a hand. Though, my beliefs are deeply rooted in the cause. I believe in equality and rights. None of which anyone has in Alexius."
nvkbypaf1-20 + 6 = 21
He grinned as the mixture seemed to cause the right reaction this time on mixing the two compounds together. He lifted it off the burner and sat it aside to cool before he started the next step. His attention now fully on the monk. 1-20

Markas' curiosity finally got the better of him he knows there's something more about Father Aero "So what is this little project I didn't take you for an alchemist."

"My former Mistress who owned me was a woman of many talents beyond her chosen field of High Priestess," explained Aero. He reached over and tapped a finger against the switch that shut off the burner and other mechanical connections to the portable lab. His hands returned to being folded across his chest while he looked down at the man. "While being owned by her, she not only guided me in my accession within the priesthood, but taught me the craft of alchemy as well. She was a perfectionist in her brewing and imparted her mannerism into me through her teaching," he paused to pick up the vial and hold it out to Markas, "I created an antitoxin just now. One of the many things I can offer this group. I plan on opening a shop here shortly within the estate to sell my wares. Possibly even begin selling potions of healing to both the soldiers but to other members as well. I may be a priest but I do have aspirations of my own. And all dreams, unfortunately, require capital to reach them."

"Sounds to me like your mistress was a very different woman" Upon being presented the vile Markas pushes himself off the wall to inspect it "Very true it's nice to know we will have another source of healing aside from clerics and Doctor Nicholas. Though it would be nice if we didn't need any of them and could solve this conflict without violence. Sadly all I can offer to the New Dawn is my combat training."

"The day we no longer need violence or war to solve differences is the day we no longer exist in this world," said Aero.
"We are a savage race that turn on one another for the most pity of reasons. As a race we are a chaotic force that one can never predict which spectrum we will flow," Aero mused, "as the scripture says even the All Father was surprised by the sudden change of demeanor that we possessed after he birthed us from the elements. How war driven we had become over the smallest of resources. It embarrassed him so that he left us to attempt twice more. However, it is us men and women of the faith that most always remember that the second world created was one of more peaceful nature that was invaded by the third. So, we holy few must put aside the differences and learn to embrace our cousins."
He turned, and looked at the man. A soft smile on his lips as he deliberately stirred the conversation away from the woman who had owned him before he was freed. His attempt was as diplomat as possible. Trying to snag attention from Markas with faith and guide him toward being more curious about that. As not many were as well versed in the ways of religion as he and others like him were trained to.

"I'll be honest if you're looking for a more thoughtful conversation on religion a paladin or cleric would be your best bet, sadly my knowledge is limited I was training more to be a fighter and protector than a holy man."
Markas makes his way over to a nearby seat
"Before we continue onto another topic how about we take a seat. Now what do you think of your fellow members so far? I know you have talked to at least three or four of us."

Aero chuckled. There existed a fine line between protector and a man of faith. He wondered how fine a line did Markas actually walk. A man could have no faith in the Gods but hold tight to a belief and could still be considered as divine as a holy man. He turned to break down the portable lab behind them, and chose not to respond. There wasn't a need to force his ideals on the man or guide him. Markas was grounded enough that, to Aero, he had found a path to walk without the need of spiritual guidance. However, he would offer advice if asked.
He was almost complete in his task of breaking down the portable lab when his attention was drawn away from it. A quick glance at the collection told him that he would need at least a few minutes for the burners to cool, and so he nodded with a soft smile. He took a seat across from the other man. He took a deep breath and let it out slowly as he considered the question. "Arlen is a handsome fellow with a good head on his shoulders. I admire him and respect him for who he is and not who he puts his faith into. It was him he convinced me not to simply kill Richard. Him, I am sure my feelings are well known on. The man shouldn't be here, and if you want to win the respect and admiration of the people, he definitely doesn't need to be here. I will keep my sword sheathed for now but I won't give him a first or second chance. The moment I see anything that even touches upon undeath with him, I will kill him."
Aero drew in a long breath and let it out while he scratched at the back of his neck.
"Bel is a good man in his own way. I wasn't lying when I told the guard about adding him to my identification as a guard. I may in fact employee him to be as such. I'm strictly a healer you see. While I can and may handle myself in a fight, I still need a guard or two to make sure I make it through. Being registered with the Alexius military as a clergymen may help us in a few situations. I'm not officially here. I am simply volunteering. I am ... neutral when it comes to the care of others. I will heal and care for both sides. Which is why I attempt to avoid bloodshed as much as possible. I don't kill unnecessarily. I do like gunslinger and young woman that traveled with us previously as well. I was honestly going to ask for the gunslingers employ as well. As well as your own. - You are a fine fighter. I may need someone like you when I got out to treat others or need to head into Osaka or Izmir on business."

"Don't let Richard taint your opinion of the New Dawn too much from what I've heard every cleric and paladin is keeping watch on him like a hawk would watch prey. And the gunslinger are you talking about that pirate fellow? I believe his name was Jaskall."
Upon hearing Aero's offer Markas thought on it a bit.
"It is a good thing that you are neutral when it comes to healing. One thing people always seem to forget in conflicts like these is that the people you see as the enemy have families too, and some may just be doing there job. Now when it comes to getting guards I will vouch for Belben he is a formidable fighter. Just the other day we were sparring and I could barely even lay a hit on him and he actually beat me twice. His attacks showed me some problems with my fighting style. I may just take your offer I don't do much but train and study and I am growing a bit tired of the scenery here.
After finishing his sentence and letting Aero speak for a bit Markas realized something and waited for a long enough pause to respectfully interrupt.
"I am also immune to disease so that may be beneficial."

"Rest easy Markas. One man does not taint my opinion so easily. As Balaria teaches, we most all learn not to judge a man by their sword but how they wield their sword. Richard wields his sword as an infant who has discovered he can walk can handle the feat. I have been ordered by Captain Bishop to keep my eyes on the man. I am also given permission to be his judge, jury, and if need arises, executioner."
Aero leaned back and rested his elbows upon the table, where suddenly Rations appeared by attempting to climb onto the bench. A few stumbles and the creature was at last able to find its seating next to the clergyman. He smiled warmly at the creature and scratched it behind its ears before he turned his attention back to Markas. "I have no loyalties to any country; only my faith. I have training in diplomacy more than anything. But, to go back to those I tend to. Enemy or alley, my vow to Her Ladyship is for the protection and well-being of all. I am a peacekeeper in that respect. I strive for the peaceful solution but am not opposed to the hard touches of war. I would be greatly honored for you to be, for lack of better terms, my guard while I am on other missions. I can of course pay you once I get a steady income. I heard there may be need of an alchemist or such at the new estate that was cleared recently. -- Immunity to poison and a very talented skill to have, my friend.
His hand stilled on his pet as Belben approached and made his presence known. The Father shook his head with a small smile and gestured to the empty space. "Please, join us. The burners are merely cooling. Once they're done, I'm packing up the gear for the day. I was trying to make an antitoxin - and had success after the second attempt."

Markas looked over to Belben and gave a nod
"How have you been Belben, I was actually just telling Aero about our little spar."

During the above exchange a beautiful female clad in breastplate, armor kilt, and wearing a tabbard with the holy symbol of Oroboros sits down across from the pair as they continue/conclude chatting about alchemy, a foreign subject to this holy warrior.
Although her physical appearance is one of natural beauty, her demeanor is rather odd and her manners are poor at best, as she hungerly wolfs down her plate in a display of unrefined behavior. Her sheathed sword is much too big to sit propped against the table so she has laid it length wise across the table she sits at. As she finishes her meal, she stands and attaches the sheath with a strap to her waist and spins it around to the small of her back, so that the sword sits parallel with her waist. She manages to knock her empty food tray off the table when she spins the sword, and it is then that you wonder how someone so small and petite looking could possibly move so fast while wearing such heavy armor.
She hastily cleans up her mess, and instead of placing the tray in with the pile of other dirty plates for the kitchen help to clean, she washes it herself. With a confident stride she wanders over to the one known as Aero and addresses him, her once bold demeanor now offset by shyness as she approaches.
"Pray tell me sir, what is this...Alchemy that you speak of? What...manor of sorcery is this that you speak of?" She betrays the look of both curiosity and cluelessness that a child or uneducated individual may exhibit.

"Oops, I'm sorry, I am, kinda not used to, how do you say, people? I've been told my manors are, umm, what was the word again? Cruel? No, that's not it...CRUDE! That's it, hahahaha" she lets out a hearty innocent laugh, "My name is Alastair, nice to meet you" she says, over doing her curt bow a bit as she makes an honest attempt to be civil.
