After failing to retrieve Kirah and coming into contact with the monstrous demon deep below the abandoned Bandit Camp the party begins to make their way back to the estate to report their findings. Tensions and feeling are on high. Regret, stress, anger, and fear linger as the group turns their back on the creature deep in the dark caverns below. There is an awkward silence as the party marches through the trail of summer leaves, only broken by heavy and strained footsteps, and the gentlest of breezes.

As Aiden marched beside his comrades his took a look behind him. What was that creature which they had fought? He had read stories about things like it, but it that have really been a demon? Demons normally aren't kind enough to let mortals free were they? The boy was very confused and shook his head to clear his thoughts as he looked around at the others. Feeling the tension of group Aiden decided to break the ice. Crossing his hands behind his back as he marched Aiden looked over at Arlen and gave him a smile.
"Mr. Arlen, don't be so upset. We were outclassed by that beast Kirah summoned. If we didn't leave then I don't think any of us would have gotten out of there alive. If that creature does show up elsewhere we can always put a stop to it then! For now let's be grateful that Oroboros protected us and let us out, right, Mr. Vicros?"
Aiden turned to the man on the horse, waiting for an answer.

Chimaera walked silently behind the others with Kirah draped in his arms. Thoughts formed a mighty tempest inside his head, quelled only by Aiden's sudden breaking of the silence. The tension had been thick between them. He shuddered as he recalled the creatures voice inside of his mind. An echo that would haunt his dreams for nights to come.
" While I would credit Him for our protection, Aiden, it's your friend that seemed to be our savior. It was her deal she made. Our lives, for her own. It's a sacrifice, like you said, which would've been wasted if we stayed. She paid for it. Like often deals with shadows would bring. "
He is quiet as he looked down at her, winced and looked at the group. " I'm sorry for your loss, " he said.

Killashandra grunts out in pain and weezes. "I didn't atempt to help her, there was no way of knowing killing her would stop it from coming out, and if she was still alive we could have found out what it was and how to stop it. So don't go pinning this on me, I don't agree with her trying to kill all those people and i said as much in that room. So get off your high horse, because now when we get back either we find someone that can talk with the dead to find out what she did, or we bring her back to find out how to stop it, or we research what that thing is, I don't know magic that well." Grunting as she walks she turns her head to Vicros. "And you can just come out and say what your thinking no need to play passive on this. And yes Aiden if she was still alive I am sure we would have had to kill her anyway but at least that would have been after we got what we needed to know."

Vicros' continuing passive aggressiveness with his comrades was certainly annoying Arlen at this point; all throughout the mission, he had done nothing but complain about the actions and motives of his friend, acting contradictory in manner. All things considered, his words were providing no benefit but to air his own frustration... A terrible thing to do, especially at this time when everyone was severely wounded and exhausted from the ordeal, with hurt pride as an extra. One moment Vicros wanted to rush in to every danger in order to save his ally, then the next moment he was all-too-quick to put an arrow straight through her skull, and Arlen couldn't understand him for the most part but he was willing to try. However, the ranger seemed to have the idea that nothing was his fault... But even more perplexing was Chimaera's belief that Kirah was our saviour; for she has signed millions of people to her death, with no chance to redeem herself because she was slain and none other than by a former companion.
"Vicros, Sir, I must insist that you calm down. You're not helping the situation in any way, shape, or form. This is a team effort and we just weren't on the same page. You also had a hand in this mission loss and you have done nothing but make sarcastic remarks, act recklessly, or complain. I was hoping we could take her alive and question her... Perhaps even learn how to send that demon back... But we can't anymore, because we failed the mission we set out for ourselves."
He gives out a heavy sigh, his roughed-up armor having taken a beating, now it clanked, grinded and groaned uncomfortably. Arlen was certainly going to need to patch it up once they returned. Even the gentle breeze was enough to sway the cloak and the lightest locks of his red hair. His footsteps were especially heavy at this time, as the dirt was ground up beneath his steel-clad feet.
"At least we're all alive to continue fighting and rest assured, I haven't given up this fight. I WON'T have that demon's voice ringing in my head; taunting me, laughing at me. I will not..."

"Hm... You think so Ms. Killashandra? I can't believe Kirah would send something like that after innocents in Rosentine. I thought she was a good person."
The young man sighed and ran his fingers through his grayish hair. He looked over at Chimaera and gave the man a smile.
"Thank you, but you don't need to apologize. You did nothing wrong sir."
As he continued to walk, Aiden silently watched at Vicros and Arlen bickered with each other.

" This isn't over, " Chimaera said. For a moment, he saw the death that was avoided. Had they stayed, the demon - the creature would have killed them all. One by one, the lights of their souls extinguished. And who would be next? Rosetine? It could have very well been the Dawn. Their escape was tactical. Outmatched. His brows knitted together while the tension escalated around him. " I personally want to see that thing dead, if it can even die. "
His weight shifted the load he held in his arms. Drawing the cloak, his own cloak having removed it, over Kirah's face to settle the chill that had started to creep up his spine. Chimaera canted his head to one side, looking at Aiden. " Desperate people can be driven to do damnable things, Aiden. Push too far, and the tree branch may break and all that bollocks. "

Killashandra opens her eyes and growls for being ingored. "It doesn't matter anymore, we have a goal now and we will fix what we all did, if you don't want to help with it then don't, and besides its like I said we don't know if killing her any faster would have ended it, magic is tricky like that." Taking a deep breath and letting out a small wimper of pain from the arrow she took she looks around. "For better or worse She was our ally at one point, dead now she can serve as a reminder of what not to do or let happen again, like showing unstable mages magic temples. though i don't know that story and I don't care not blaming anyone for it."
Moving next to Vicros she gives a sad look. "I don't blam you for killing her nor that taking that arrow almost killed me. Like I said I wanted her alive to find out what she was doing. we all do stupid things when mad Vicros the key is to find the balance in it."

Aiden looked over at Chimaera and nodded. "Whatever it is, we'll stop it! I hope we don't have to stop another friend of the New Dawn though. By the way, if you want, I can carry Kirah for you if she's too heavy. After all, I had to carry Ms. Killy when she was dead, and she was super heavy. I had to struggle with her." He held out his hands as he offered to carry Kirah in Chimaera's place.

Arlen rubs the bridge of his nose at Vicros' response; feeling he's now pulling words out of thin air. But it made him think on his own thoughts from earlier... And maybe he thought too harshly of Chimaera. At the very least he was glad to be alive to fight the evil another day, but the loss of the battle left a bitter taste in his mouth. He continued walking with a purposeful stride, despite the hindrance of his damaged armor and grievous wounds. The dents in the metal plates only served to jab at his skin, like his inner demons that jab at his mind and taunt him for every false measured and fruitless effort. He could've sworn he heard a chuckle off in the distance, but quickly shook himself back to full consciousness. His arms swung idly in his stride, the cloak ruffled gently in the breeze and he looked straight ahead at the path in front of the party; focusing on the journey ahead, and then focusing on the journey even farther beyond this road.
"I agree with Miss Killashandra: we had no idea how that magic was going to work and I was firm in the belief of stopping her without killing her. The information she might have is lost now, but we can't help that anymore... I just wished there was a chance to help her redeem herself... Before it was too late."
He slowed down his walking pace until he matched with Chimaera's, then in an effort to change the subject, Arlen laid a hand on Chimaera's shoulder.
"So how did you come into Oroboros' embrace, Sir? I would like to hear of your experiences with religion. If it helps break the ice, I can tell you that I found him through prayer... And coincidentally, that's how he found me; through my own prayers. I want to learn from you, if you don't mind that is."

"You're very optimistic, Aiden — a trait I admire. This cause that we've bound ourselves too will have many causalities — show many peoples true colors. So, my advice is to prepare for it, Aiden. The good, and the bad," Maera said. For a moment, he looked down at the deceased woman in his arms and weighed the mental toll it could have on Aiden. He was a stranger, as she was to him. It wasn't an issue for him to carry her for them until she was laid to rest. But, there was no telling what emotional stress it could put on someone that called her friend. It was only a second that he thought about it before he looked up and shook his head. "Let me, Aiden — I don't want to pass a burden to you. I know she was a friend of yours, all of yours. But, at the end — well, I'm fine with the duty."
His eyes fell on the hand placed on his shoulder, and then trained his gaze on Arlen himself. "My mother was a druidess in the frontier of the Republic — while my father instilled in us the importance of academics and magic, she took us into the woods and taught us of Oroboros." He paused, shook his head, and looked ahead so not to trip. "I don't mind you asking about me or my faith, Ser Arlen. Like I said, I gained it from my mother. And when she was butchered, I nearly lost it. I drove myself further into it to escape a lot of my pain that I had left over from her death. So, in a way you could say that even if I did know about him before her death, He found me after her passing and guided me to where I am now."

He let go of Chimaera after grabbing his attention, and then he listened to the man's story, frowning as he did so; stability, safety and happiness that was quite swiftly taken away from Chimaera and sending his life into turmoil. His coping mechanism sounds a lot similar to Arlen's, but to Chimaera's benefit he found it a lot sooner... Who knows what damage has been caused in Arlen's subconscious. Still, he can empathise over the loss of a loved one and having finally found something to hope for, and he reflected on this as they continued walking ahead. The Estate was close in sight...
"I don't claim to know a lot about Oroboros, but it would be good to learn from each other. Maybe in time, I can help pull you out of that pit you're caught in."
Arlen shook his head and chuckled.
"I'm no knight by the way... I'm not officially knighted, not yet anyway, but maybe when all this chaos is over."

As the trees clear the gloom and shadows of the forest is replaced with the sparkling stars and gentle shine of the moon. Far ahead and off in the distance the lights of the estate gate can be spotted. Aiden let out a drowsy yawn and continued to march alongside his companions.
"Well, at least we came back safe and sound. I'll miss Ms. Kirah, but things don't always go as planned. That's what my uncle says. Mr. Chimaera, you did a good job. I hope to go on other missions with you."
