The estate was alive. New individuals to the cause - her cause. Thin fingers brushed through the strains of hair that obscured his vision and back. Had she stood where he was now? His gaze turned to the sky. A bright beacon that brought his hand up to shield against it. Esmeralda - did she die for a reason? A cause she was willing to give her life for? His brows knitted together in annoyance. Why did you have to go and get yourself caught? Come into my life like that and then leave! It's not fair. It's not fair! A stone was his victim, kicked off toward the inn where he started to walk toward.
His hand pushed the doors opened roughly, eyes closed and face hidden by the red cloak hood that had been drawn up between his walk across the grounds to the inn. His hand moves from the door, pulling the hood back as he stepped inside to take a spare stool. The bard's lament draws his attention, momentarily, before he orders hot herbal tea. His thoughts, pushed by the song, turns back to the ordeal with the New Dawn and his departed mentor. " Why even bother ... to try and understand "
His fingers run along the silver sheen of the holy symbol that dangled from his neck, even as he murmurs to himself.
You're dead. ( Bard's Song )
PARTICIPANTS: LOCKED Akira Noitobi Keran

From a thorn a rose emerges and from a rose a thorn.
As akira continues to sip on the house wine and listen to the hired bards music. She couldn't help but notice the red hooded man enter the building. She continued to watch him as he sat an ordered a tea. And upon further inspection she began to notice that his heart was being pulled by an ordeal. Not feeling comfortable with just sitting there and allowing this man to get swallowed by his thoughts, Akira then rose from out of her seat and walked up to the hooded man. Standing a few feet away from him she then spoke up saying "Something seems to be bothering you."

He spared her but a single glance, and nothing more. His tea sat before him, only a moment later. The steam curled upwards, its thin tendril of wisp dancing elegantly beneath his nostrils. There was a weight on his shoulders. A mighty heft that pressed tight against him. Chimaera softly blew on the surface of his tea after he raised it to his lips, and took a sip. " You're not wrong, " he responded.
His gray blue eyes, light in color, turn back to her. A glance to the empty stool next to him was hopefully enough to show he didn't mind her to take a seat next to him. " Care to help me forget them with conversation? Maybe with the tea, it'll help settle the doubt I've been having recently. "

From a thorn a rose emerges and from a rose a thorn.
After listening to his words, Akira came closer taking a seat at the stood next to him and waving to the bar maiden to bring her another glass of wine. "Well maybe its not the fact that you should stop thinking about your doubts, maybe its time to allow someone else to hear your troubles." Akira said softly as she carefully picked up her glass and raised it to her mouth. Closing her eyes and swallowing down the bitter wine that had filled her cup and she waited for his response.

He blinked — a logical step on its own. Chimaera looked down at the small swirl in the liquid. The steam a warmth on his face that lulled him into a complaisant mood. She's right. Part of him knew that. Serth would have told him the same thing. Talk out his feelings, his dark thoughts, and let them go. It was easy for him to say — he was still a baby when the Knights had come for Konstantine, and a toddler still when their mother had died. The world, to his youngest brother, was still colorful and bright.
Chimaera saw a world of grey now — ironic given his surname. He took another sip at his tea, and looked at the bar maiden to grab her attention. A quick order to keep the tea coming with some nuts and berries to go with it and he had turned his attention back on her.
" I don't know if my being here will change much of anything — Esmeralda trusted Dawn and she was executed with him. I saw how proud she was, standing up there with the noose around her neck. I don't get why she had been that proud when she was only seconds away from dying. "
He looked down at the bar, his brows knitted together. " I'm not saying I'm regretting being here. Or doubting my reason. I just don't understand how someone could work so hard for change and look proud because it all fell apart. "

From a thorn a rose emerges and from a rose a thorn.
Shocked but not wanting to show to much emotion at what the man had just explained. Akira put down her glass and began to say "I completely understand your loss, when it comes down to death or success they understood in their heart that they would be the spark to ignite what we call the New Dawn now." She then turned towards him, an continued "I dont know much about the New Dawn or what the future holds, all I know is that in order to be called to a place like this you must be worthy." She then extends her right hand and places it onto his shoulder. "Use that passion and emotion the allow to fight the good fight ahead of us."

A kingdom shall fall for power. An open window allowed the bard’s performance to flow freely out of the inn, and Keran found it quite to his liking. He lingered outside for a moment before, with a glance at the sun’s position, he figured enough had been done for the day. The door was pushed open gently, unoiled hinges remaining quiet, and he wasn’t too surprised to see the floor relatively empty. A bit early in the day for the drinking to really begin, and there was still much to be done for many of the new recruits that had arrived.
He made his way over towards the counter and drew up a stool of his own, some distance away from the other patrons. Surprisingly enough, tea was actually served here and he quickly ordered a pot for himself before he spun around to observe the others present in the building. A raised brow expressed his interest in the conversation to his left, as Keran looked towards the pair. He had only caught the last few words, so while he had an idea, it was hardly comprehensive of what the topic may have been. "Words of reassurance already?" he asked questioningly before he turned to thank the bar maiden as she returned with his tea.

There was logic to her words that he could see, and even understand. She had been the sort of teacher to guide him towards a goal not fully grasping the point behind it. The reward of understanding a far sweeter taste once it had been reached. The hand on his shoulder distracted him from his descent into his own thoughts. Chimaera smirked, unable to or not willing to hide it. He had a feeling the only reason he was here was because Esmeralda had been his teacher.
Fodder for the next generation. New necks to meet the hangman's noose when everything turned upside down. It was a bleak thought which was only present in his mind for a second. " Passion is a dangerous creature; the same breed that runs with love but a different beast completely. It's not that I have doubt in my duties here, it's doubt that I can face death as prideful as she had if the time came. "
His words trailed off as Keran spoke and his words registered to his listening of the conversation. The bar maiden returned, and he nodded his appreciation before turning his attention to the two beside him. " Reassurance? Not exactly. An examination of a departed mentor and friends last emotion before the hangman took her life for treason. "
" Chimaera Gray . . . I don't remember if I introduced myself before we started talking. "

From a thorn a rose emerges and from a rose a thorn.
Akira lowered her hand as the dark haired man entered the conversation. Trying to undo assumptions of Chimera being weak minded. "Its nice to meet you Chimera, I'm Akira Noitobi." She said as she once more picked up her drink but before taking another sip of her bitter wine she responded to him saying "If you don't think you can die with honor, then its not your time to die." Closing her eyes she slowly sipped her drink until it was almost finished.

A kingdom shall fall for power. It had been a while, so Keran took a few moments to take in the herbal scent that wafted upwards from the poured tea. He hummed in acknowledgement of the other man’s explanation, and turned around to face the pair once again. It didn’t look like either of them took what he said too seriously. Elbows propped against the counter, he smiled slightly and said, “Keran’s my name. Seems like I’m just in time for introductions.”
“And how long have you served this cause Chimaera? Am I mistaken that you’re only a recent recruit?”

Chimaera halfheartedly chuckled. " Death takes us when it's ready for us, and not because of a feeling yet to be felt. It doesn't care. Neutral in its swift action to take us, it comes for us when our name is whispered, " he lamented.
His finger traced the rim of his cup. A slow understanding forming with each passing circled round of the edge. Akira and Keran. He's had more social interaction being part of the Dawn than he has had in a few years. Not that it was a bad thing.
The question had his finger pause its movement against the smooth, rounded edge and look up at the pair of them. His smile, a half form of his lip curled upward. " I guess you could say, I was part of this rebellion since its conception by DAWN SILVERLAKE himself, Keran. The woman who trained me in my skill with a bow had been part of the first rebellion and secretly trained me to take up the cause if she were to ever fall. - Given the topic of conversation I believe you can conclude that they found her, and executedher alongside Silverlake. A next generation freedom fighter, I guess you could say. "

A kingdom shall fall for power. “It’d be nice if that were true, but it seems that Death comes by the whim of men more often than before now. Nice to have something we can drive our blades into and tell, “Not today,” I suppose.” Keran savored his lukewarm tea slowly before he redirected his attention towards Chimaera as he felt the other man’s attention.
He listened without interruption and finished the rest of his cup by the time Chimaera had said his piece. Words were considered as he poured yet another cup for himself. “Well, it seems I’m looking at one reason your mentor had to be proud of. We do not know each other, but is how you face death all that important? It is a great sacrifice to make and whether you meet it defiant and proud, or afraid and trembling, it does not change what you’ll be doing.”

"I suppose you are right in some sense. Death, however, is in the arm of the man who drives the sword. So, in a sense, It still takes you when It is ready to collect you." He trailed off, poured more tea for himself and then returned his attention to the bar before him. "She and her emotions will be a mystery forever due to her death. Maybe I am an idiot trying to understand her last moments."

Akira laughed at his response, "Idiot no, but helpless maybe just a little." She then lifted herself up from her seat and continued to say. "I feel like youre punishing yourself for her standing up for what she thought was right... dont." Akira then began to walk out of the building.

A kingdom shall fall for power. “Well, no one’s completely free of stupidity.” He glanced around the room as he said this, looking towards the few other members that were present. “We’re trying to topple an Empire after all. Much more foolish than reminiscing on the last moments of an acquaintance or friend, yet here we are anyways.” Keran waved to Akira’s departure before he picked up his tea and sipped from it.

Helpless. It would not be a word he would used to describe himself. Chimaera was capable of his own survival, and had the skill to fight if he had need of it. A formal trained woodsmen with a sharp eye and a strong aim. Hopeless would have been a better fit. Blind to how to properly connect with others, or how to talk to them without knowing them for a while. Aiden had been one of the only few recruits he had talked to at length. He watched as Akira left them, turning his attention back to Keran as he finished his second cup of tea. "You have a point. A great feat itself. One that shouldn't be distracted by the past, which can't be changed no matter how much one wishes it to be."

A kingdom shall fall for power. Keran supposed he was rather fortunate to be here without any real baggage of sorts. Oh, there was vaguely the sense of retribution for those that had been sent against his family, but it couldn’t be described as what drove him on this path. His family was still alive, he had experienced no grea- Well, best to stop that line of thought before something took notice. “I occasionally do,” Keran replied with a small grin as he set his cup against the counter and sighed contently. “Might as well fo- Mmm, well I suppose you probably don’t need to hear it from another fresh recruit.”
He finished what was left of his tea and set a few coins next to the empty cup and pot as payment. Rolling his shoulders a few times, Keran stood and nodded politely towards Chimaera. “Pleasure speaking with you. Perhaps in time you’ll do things that bring greater honor to not only you but the one that mentored you.”
