There was a concern that had started to ebb away at Chimaera. It had started down in the sewer, and had only grown since they had recovered the fungi. Most notably, it had worried him after The Sleeper had been dealt with and the crystal aura recovered. It had been that concern which had brought him to the infirmary and to Juniper. A simple, but quick exchange of words with one of the healers was all he needed to assure them that he wasn't there for medical purpose but to have a private talk with a member of the staff.
After he was directed to her, he carefully knocked against the wooden frame of the door to alert her to his presence. "Juniper? Do you have a minute; I'd like to speak with you," he asked.PARTICIPANTS: Mothbile Chimaera

J uniper perked up at Chimaera's voice. She peered behind some curtains that gave patients some privacy while they rested on the beds. "Yes?" She murmured. "What is it?"

Chimaera peered back into the hallway briefly and stepped inside with the door being closed behind him. "I've been meaning to speak with you about certain things I've noticed in my brief time of knowing you," he said. As he walked into the room, and drew closer to her, he began to check each bed to make sure that it had been unoccupied before he clasped his arms together behind his back.
Once satisfied with how private their conversation would be, he came to the curtain that she had peered out from. A soft smile presented, Chimaera focused on her. "About how you reacted both in the sewers and in the forest. Nothing bad, of course. A friendly talk, I promise."

S he stepped closer to the curtains, gripping at it slightly tighter. Her eyes fell downwards with a frown creasing her lips. "Ah . . . I see. I looked pretty-- sad, yeah? I'm not used to this sort of work. I get overwhelmed easily."

" Sad wouldn't have been the word I'd use to describe it, " Chimera said. He straightened up and ran his fingers through his hair. His hand fell to his side as he stepped back and pressed against the wall. His shoulders resting flat against the wall, he crossed his feet at the ankle and his arms over his chest. " I would've had said inexperience - I can understand the overwhelming feeling. But, I was wondering if there is anything I could do to help you get used to all this. This is all going to get worse before it gets better, Juniper."

J uniper sighed heavily as she turned her back to Chimaera. She busied her hands by straightening out the sheets on the bed. Her lips, opened and closed slightly, trying to find any words to say. "I-- I don't know. I mean, I know what I got myself into." She then patted at the bed before straightening up, still not wanting to look at the archer who came to see her. "I guess this is just the price I have to pay to find the answers I'm looking for."

"Do you?" Chimaera asked. Did she know the dangers of a rebellion? He wasn't sure of them himself. Though, he never assumed that it would be a walk in the park. There were going to be hurdles to overcome. Friends would be killed - or fall to their deaths. His brow furrowed at her statement. Perplexed by her, he stepped forward and pulled the curtain back to peer into the closed off bed. "Is the price worth it for you? This is a dangerous situation that you've found yourself in - that we're all in. One whiff that this rebellion has restarted and we're all walking the gallows. He took a deep breath, and watched her work. "I'm concerned merely that if you were pulled into a similar situation that the same thing would happen," he added.

J uniper then suddenly turned on her heel to look at Chimaera squarely. There was a sudden spark in her eyes that was almost startling in a way. A frown creased her lips before she spoke up again, her voice slightly sharp.
"I'm not running away to miss the chance I need." She grasped at her necklace that held her holy symbol and what looked to be a single gold ring. "If I cry or-- or get messed up, I'll get back up. I thank you for the concern, but I don't want someone pitying me . . ."

He smiled when the fire in her eyes burned bright enough that it fueled her spirit. He stepped closer and his gaze was drawn to her holy symbol as he calmly spoke to her. "If I pitied you then I would never speak to you," Chimaera said, "I see a potential in you. A brightness that someone once saw in me," he went on. Chimaera raised his thumb to his lip and pressed as he regarded her now. "I'm telling you to know what you're going to have to give up - and to face the unknown outside the safety of this infirmary. We are at war."
One step drew him even closer to her while his hand reached out and flicked the edge of her holy symbol with his fingertip. "If you were useless, if you weren't strong, you wouldn't be here. Remember that," he said. His lip quirked into a half-smile as he backed away from her and started slowly toward the door. "Don't let anyone make you feel weak, Juniper. Be the hunter and not the prey."

T he young cleric stood there, a little surprised at Chimaera's response. She looked down at her holy symbol before gently picking it up and staring at it, like she was scanning for any trace of Chimaera on it. Juniper looked back up only to see that he had left. Quietly, she turned back, busying herself once again to the infirmary.
